Sonic Connectors is seeking an experienced CAD Draftsman to support the engineering department by creating detailed 2D and 3D drawings, manufacturing documentation, and wellhead stack-up models for operations and sales teams, while ensuring all drawings meet company quality standards and manufacturing requirements. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of API 6A wellhead and oilfield surface equipment. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing company offering competitive pay and strong benefits.

Specific responsibilities may include:

• Create and revise 2D drawings and 3D CAD models for parts and assemblies.

• Produce fully-dimensioned, manufacturing drawings and wellhead stack-up models.

• Convert sketches, prototypes, and supplier data into CAD models for parts and assemblies.

• Collaborate directly with engineering department to support sales, operations, manufacturing and other departments as necessary.

• Prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs), material lists, revision histories, and fabrication/assembly notes.

• Assist engineering with work instructions, operational procedures and technical documentation.

• Maintain CAD library, templates, standards, and drawing revisions and control/drawing release procedures.

• Support engineering department with projects, design testing and other similar duties.

• Support inspection/quality department by supplying drawing documentation and revisions after production feedback.

• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

• Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).

EXPERIENCE

• Experience in wellhead systems, oilfield equipment, fabrication, or manufacturing environment preferred.

• Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years drafting experience required.

• Autodesk Inventor Professional preferred.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

• Proficiency with CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor Professional, AutoCAD, SolidWorks or Fusion 360.

• Familiarity with CAD workflows and common file formats (IPT, IAM, DWG, STEP, IGES).

• Working knowledge of machining processes, manufacturing methods, tolerances and surface finishes.

• Ability to create clear, accurate and production-ready engineering drawings.

• Strong attention to detail with analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL AND SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

• Sitting, bending, standing, walking, 8–10 hours per day.

• Able to lift up to 40 lbs as needed for part samples or fixtures.

• Must comply with shop safety and PPE requirements; occasional exposure to noise, dust, and machining operations.

• Ability to visit the shop floor to review parts, perform tests, and measure prototypes.
